Rural coliving mixes two things that used to look incompatible: remote work and village life. Professionals who work online live together for weeks or months in villages —hamlets, farmhouses, houses in the mountains— with a private room, a serious coworking space and, above all, a community that adopts you from day one.
The formula repeats with variations: you sleep in your private room, you work in a proper coworking space (fiber, decent chairs, quiet to focus), and the community provides the rest. Shared meals, trails that start at the front door, neighbors who teach you to bake bread, housemates you end up having dinner with every night.
The difference with moving to the countryside on your own is that here you're not alone: the coliving organizes everything so you land and belong from day one. And the difference with a hotel is that you go from passing through to being part of the village.

It's for you if you work remotely (or you're on a sabbatical, writing, studying) and want to trade the city for a village without isolating yourself. It's not for you if you're looking for anonymity, partying every night, or 'disconnecting' from work: the point here is living where you work, not running away from it.
The organized community. In a rented house you arrive alone and figure everything out yourself; in a coliving there's coworking, activities and people in your situation from day one. You pay to not have to build your social life from scratch.
No. Most are remote workers with normal jobs, but there are also sabbaticals, writers, students and people between projects. The real requirement is being able to work online —or not needing to work— for weeks at a time.
It has to: it's the product they sell. Most offer fiber or serious connections of hundreds of megabits. Still, before booking a long stay, ask about real speeds and whether there's a backup connection.
One to three months is typical, though some stay half a year and many come back every season. Long stays are the norm, not the exception: that's what separates coliving from tourism.
